Manhattan: A Love Letter to NY City

Updated: Nov 28, 2018

Isaac David: Chapter One. He adored New York City. He idolized it all out of proportion. Eh uh, no, make that he, he romanticized it all out of proportion. Better. To him, no matter what the season was, this was still a town that existed in black and white and pulsated to the great tunes of George Gershwin.

Already being in 2018, without a doubt it is known that Woody Allen is one of the greatest geniuses that the world has given with his incredible films that get to catch the attention of the viewer with only 5 minutes of watching the film. From his works we can easily make a top 5: Broadway Danny Rose, Hannah and Her Sisters, Crimes and Misdemeanors, Annie Hall and finally the best one so far, Manhattan.

Manhattan a film based in New York City in 1979, talks about a neurotic writer in his forties who has a 17-year-old girlfriend and is looking for his next literary success. But, what makes this story interesting is is the competition that is going to be created between the protagonist and one of his ex-wives who is also writing a book about his past relationship with him before leaving him.

Manhattan is definitely a film that gives something to talk about because of its fusion between tragedy and comedy, for its lack of color when showing everything in black and white, for the magnificent performance of Diane Keaton and Meryl Streep, for its incredible presentation of the magic that New York possesses, and the little touch that Jazz music gives to it that Woody Allen always manages to integrate that gives the perfect balance so that it becomes an iconic film.
